Not sure why/how I never got around to posting this, but here’s the third episode of my podcast! It features a hilarious and intriguing conversation with med student and phalloplastic surgeon in training, Lilly Zhang. Check it out:
Over the weekend I taped Episode 2 of The JC Cassis Show, my new podcast. In it, I interviewed my awesome and hilarious friend, Carl Arnheiter, creator and host of Inside Joke, the hugely popular New York comedy show, and writer/performer of various wonderful things. We had an awesome and hilarious conversation about our awkward childhoods, crazy people, and guidos in ponds. Take a listen here:
It took a week of wrestling with internet social media technology I don’t know, but finally, FINALLY I put the pieces together and figured out how to get the damn podcast on iTunes. Holy crap, it’s SO hard if you don’t know what you’re doing and you haven’t done it before. I just kept soldiering on and FINALLY got it to work. And now that I know how the hell it works, it’s not so bad.
I am SO EXCITED to have it out, and I am SO EXCITED for future shows! I already have some great guests lined up and I can’t wait to find more people to have on the show who will have funny, interesting conversations with me that fans will love listening to. The first episode with Dan Freeman is really interesting and full of laughs, so definitely check it out. If you listen on iTunes, please rate the podcast and write me a quick review!
And for those of you who want to know how I did it and how you can to, here’s how to put a podcast on iTunes in plain English:
1. Record the podcast. Upload it to a publicly accessible website. (You will need to have a website of your own and hosting, or a friend who’s willing to host it on his/her website. I used Adobe Dreamweaver and my website for this.)
2. Follow the instructions here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html by copying the sample code on that site and pasting it into the code side of an xml page in Dreamweaver. Delete the example info and replace it with your info for the podcast (title, author, etc), making sure not to disturb any of the actual html.
3. Go into the iTunes store podcast page, click “Submit a Podcast,” and submit the url of the xml page. If you’ve done everything right, you should be done. If you haven’t, iTunes will tell you what to fix. Then your podcast will be approved and available in the store in under 12-24 hours.
So there you have it! It just took me so long because I didn’t understand what any of that stuff was. Now that I do, it’s not so bad!
Wow, time has flown by since last entry. I’ve been having a GREAT time having more time to devote to my career. The first order of my hard copy CDs should be here any day now, so if you want one, just let me know at talktojccassis AT gmail DOT com. I’ll be setting up the store widget on my website very soon.
One of the top things on my list of priorities is cleaning up/revamping my website. I want to make it as up-to-date as possible and make it easy for people to order CDs and merch directly through my site.
The other thing I’ve started doing is podcasting! I’m in the midst of trying to get the podcast online and on iTunes, and once it is, it will be so great! I made great cover art for it (see above) and taped the first episode last week with my lovely pal Dan Freeman of the wonderful band Comandante Zero. The episode is really funny and interesting and I look forward to doing a lot more of them once I can just figure out how the hell to get them online. I’ve already got instructions, now it’s just a question of successfully following them. I’ll be posting the podcast here as soon as I can!
